Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Homes here are close to a wide array of great shops and restaurants in the Morningside Village development and along Piedmont Avenue and Cheshire Bridge Road on the neighborhood’s western edge. Alon’s Bakery is a Morningside Village favorite for artisanal baked goods and award-winning pastries. Alon’s also has a market section with high-quality cheeses and wines. Stop by for lunch to enjoy delicious soups, sandwiches, salads, and other gourmet light bites. Right next to Alon’s, Highland Fine Wine carries an impressive selection of European labels and hosts a variety of wine tasting events and classes.

Kale Me Crazy is your Morningside Village go-to for nutritious dishes. Their menu includes tasty and health-conscious açai bowls, wraps, toasts, and salads. Kale Me Crazy also has a great selection of fresh juices and smoothies as well as coffee and tea. Right down the street is

Highland Diamond, which sells diamonds, rings, watches, and other luxurious jewelry pieces. The shop also offers full custom design and jewelry and watch repair services.

Located along Morningside’s western boundary with Piedmont Heights, Varuni Napoli is a relaxed Italian restaurant with what many consider to be the best pizza in Atlanta. Varuni’s delicious wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas are crafted by a chef who learned his trade at La Notizia, the world’s only Michelin-rated pizzeria, and topped with locally-sourced ingredients. The menu also includes scrumptious homemade desserts.

Things to Do

Sidney Marcus Park is a peaceful neighborhood park shaded by tall trees and featuring a playground. Morningside Lenox Park Association organizes a Concerts in the Park series at Sidney Marcus Park every year between spring and fall. Another annual highlight is the family-friendly Halloween Parade along Wayne Avenue. Morningside Farmers’ Market is held in Morningside Village each Saturday morning all year-round. The market began in 1995 as the first fully organic farmers’ market in Atlanta.

The 33-acre woodland of Morningside Nature Preserve has two miles of peaceful and scenic walking trails surrounding the South Fork Peachtree Creek. The nature preserve is popular with both hikers and dog walkers and the shallow creek is often called Atlanta’s dog beach. The Eastside Trail of the larger Atlanta BeltLine trail network passes Morningside on the west. This mixed-use trail follows an old railway line and runs from Piedmont Park to Reynoldstown.
