Located along Morningside’s western boundary with Piedmont Heights, Varuni Napoli is a relaxed Italian restaurant with what many consider to be the best pizza in Atlanta. Varuni’s delicious wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas are crafted by a chef who learned his trade at La Notizia, the world’s only Michelin-rated pizzeria, and topped with locally-sourced ingredients. Sidney Marcus Park is a peaceful neighborhood park shaded by tall trees and featuring a playground. Morningside Lenox Park Association organizes a Concerts in the Park series at Sidney Marcus Park every year between spring and fall. Another annual highlight is the family-friendly Halloween Parade along Wayne Avenue. Morningside Farmers’ Market is held in Morningside Village each Saturday morning all year-round. The market began in 1995 as the first fully organic farmers’ market in Atlanta.
The 33-acre woodland of Morningside Nature Preserve has two miles of peaceful and scenic walking trails surrounding the South Fork Peachtree Creek. The nature preserve is popular with both hikers and dog walkers and the shallow creek is often called Atlanta’s dog beach. The Eastside Trail of the larger Atlanta BeltLine trail network passes Morningside on the west. This mixed-use trail follows an old railway line and runs from Piedmont Park to Reynoldstown.
